Different!

– “Why do they hate him?”
– “They’re scared of him. Fear breeds hatred.”
– “But he’s such a nice guy.”
– “Even saints have been crucified, my friend.
They don’t care if he’s nice.
Their problem is, he thinks different.”
– “So what? He just minds his business.
Sure; his ways are different; but
he pursues his goals absent exploitation.
Sure his ideas are different; but
he shares his opinions without force.
He advocates no violence.”
– “Which should’ve been relevant.
But not for them.”
– “Why not?”
– “Only those who bother to think
will find it relevant.
Here, we’re talking about a herd.
People join a herd,
only when they don’t think.
They can; but they choose not to.
Intellectual laziness. That’s how they begin.
Absent independent thought,
they feel vulnerable. They join a herd, for
the herd provides an illusion of security.
Absent thought, they declare it reality.
The herd demands only one contribution.
Nobody should ever call its bluff.
And nobody who joins it ever does.
Except, then they see people like him.
The ones who stay out of the herd.
And still manage to live good.
He shows them one can stay out of the herd.
He calls their bluff. That’s why they hate him.”
– “It’s so unnecessary. Yet, he’s so calm. How?”
– “He understands differences.
He understands not everyone can.
He accepts both.
He avoids the mistake they make with him.
They demand he should be same as them.
He doesn’t demand
they should be same as him.”
