– “Why aren’t you in it?”
– “Why should I be?”
– “Most people are.”
– “My goal isn’t to be most people.”
– “You think you’re uniquely special?”
– “Each one of us is.
But it’s useful only when applied.
It’s tragic that we’re taught to deny it.
The goal is to develop identity;
not conformity.”
– “We find an identity in society.”
– “I saw a herd of sheep recently.
Walking in a straight line.
Each sheep was following the next in line.
Each one assuming the same: the next
sheep knows where the herd is going!
Which means nobody actually knew!
At the front, there was a boy, luring the
fist sheep in line with promise of grass.
Praising them for maintaining a straight line.
The boy was a butcher’s son.
The herd walked itself to the slaughter-house.
Why did it happen?
The sheep were following others too close.
Their vision was full of the next sheep’s ass.
The rhythmic bounce of ass-cheeks
hypnotized the whole herd.
The same way the rhythms of
social sensations and trends and fashions
hypnotize entire humans population.
A herd doesn’t give you an identity.
A herd robs you of it.
If you want a society and not a herd,
develop your own identity.
For that’s what a society is:
Unity in variety of individual identities.
Stop following each other’s asses.
Get some distance. Get a perspective.
Choose goals; know ways.
Be conscious. Look. Learn. Apply.
Be human. Not sheep.”
